Our privacy policy outlines how Brook RED ensures that personal information is managed in an open, honest, and respectful way and to ensure that individual’s privacy is protected. Brook RED’s practices meet Australian Privacy Principles (APP’s) and comply with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

What information do we collect about you?
We collect names (you can use a pseudonym), contact details, health details (which may include diagnoses), emergency contacts and support person details (if applicable), and anything else you want to share that might help us support you.

Why do we collect your information?
We collect personal information to help us provide support to you, to inform future directions, and to meet our funding obligations.

Who else sees your information?
No-one else can see your information unless you consent.
Sometimes disclosure is permitted under privacy laws such as in a medical emergency or under a subpoena.

How will your information be protected?
Brook RED ensures that personal information is protected from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure. Filing cabinets are locked and our online database requires an ID and password. Your privacy is protected by law.

Can you access your information?
You can request to access your information by speaking to a Peer Support Worker. If you have any other questions or feedback about what happens to your information while you are accessing Brook RED, please speak to a Peer Support Worker.

What happens to my information if Brook RED stops operating?
In the event that Brook RED stops operating, we will endeavour to contact all current or previous members and let them know that the organisation is closing and that a digital copy of their file will be made available to them upon request. The closing date and information will be available on the website and contact details will be updated on the website for data requests.
Informed Consent
All Brook RED services are voluntary. We won’t make anyone engage with our supports if they do not want to. This includes what information you share with us. You can change or revoke your consent at any point.
Complaints and Feedback
We welcome feedback and complaints at any point – this includes while you are using Brook RED services, as well as after. We have two formal ways people can give feedback or make a complaint.
